The Villa of the poet Jan Kasprowicz (1860-1926) at the Harenda, and his museum since 1950, is located halfway between Zakopane and Poronin. In 1920, Jan Fudala Kluś built the boarding house. Soon he sold it to an English painter, Winifrid Cooper and later on the house was bought by Jan Kasprowicz. The concept of the villa is based on the design of a typical Gorale village house with one room on the axis of the entrance (dining room), a “black room" on the left (small living room) and a “white room" (bedroom) on the right. Apart from the above rooms, there is also an office, library, kitchens and an attic. One can also visit a dining room, small living room, bedroom and a gallery of paintings of Władysław Jarocki, Kasprowicz’s son-in-law. The gallery includes memorials of the poet and his family: furniture, paintings, books and photos. The interior is kept in the same condition as when Maria Kasprowiczowa (died in 1968) gave it to the museum. The Museum at the Harenda is kept by the Society of Jan Kasprowicz’s Works.
Next to the museum, there is a granite mausoleum, built on the initiative of Maria Kasprowiczowa. Jan Kasprowicz was initially buried in the Stary Cmentarz [Old Cemetery], and after finishing the construction of the mausoleum according to the design of Karol Stryjeński in 1933, the ashes of the poet were placed in the lower part of the mausoleum. In the upper part, in the chapel, rests Maria Kasprowiczowa.
